Confession A Pinterest Wanna Be

I am a very crafty and creative person. I'm not being too hard on myself or anything like that. But for some reason whenever I try to do one of these Pinterest ideas they do not turn out like I think they will. Easter Sunday morning was a great example.

The project was Resurrection Rolls (http://www.cheeriosandlattes.com/resurrection-rolls/) I picked it because the prep time was fast and sounded yummy. I followed the directions, but my rolls did not turn out like these.

I mean, what can go wrong with butter, sugar, cinnamon, and marshmallows?

One of the steps says to: "cover all sides and pinch the dough closed tightly (*to prevent “Jesus” from melting out)." Something must have gone wrong with mine. I either had too big of marshmallows or too small of crescent rolls, because when I went to remove my little "empty tombs" from the oven, my "Jesus" was oozing out of the tombs all over the pan!

I should have taken a picture, but I didn't. I didn't even share with the kids until I cleaned them up a little for fear they would be grossed out or even scared that our Jesus Marshmallows were all melted out. And the bottoms of the tombs were gooey and soggy and the tops were hard. And sticky. Oh so sticky. And they didn't taste as yummy as they looked in the picture.

The blessings came in the form of the conversation I had with my kids. The boys know the story of the Last Supper, the details of The Crucifixion, and the Miracle of the Resurrection. I cried when I read the Scripture of Jesus appearing to Mary, and Kyle asked about my tears so tenderly (Why is there a tear from your eye, momma?). We rejoiced in the fact that is is because He Has Risen that we believe in Jesus as our Lord. It was a sweet time in the Word.

As as for my rolls, this occurred to me later in the day. I hope that when I am in the heat of things, even if it doesn't look pretty ('cause life can get messy and sticky and gooey and not look like we thought it would)....but that in those times that all others would see is My Sweet Jesus oozing out of me.
